We're partnering with a client to hire a detail-oriented Bookkeeper with a strong payroll focus. This is a great opportunity for a payroll professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced, project-driven environment and wants to expand their accounting experience.
What You'll Do
- Process, review, and validate payroll to ensure accurate and timely compensation
- Maintain payroll systems, including new hires, pay rates, deductions, and classifications
- Verify timecards, tax withholdings, and compliance with wage laws and agreements
- Manage payroll tax filings, direct deposits, W-2s, and reporting requirements
- Prepare certified payroll, union reports, labor reports, and reconciliations
- Support union and prevailing wage requirements, including rate updates and audits
- Record journal entries and perform account reconciliations
- Assist with financial reporting and general accounting tasks
- Manage payroll funding, bank transfers, and account balances
- Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries
What You Bring
- 3+ years of payroll experience
- Strong knowledge of payroll processes, compliance, and reporting
- Experience with construction or union payroll preferred
- Familiarity with prevailing wage requirements is a plus
- Additional accounting or bookkeeping experience preferred
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
